Ms Michelle Bravo
Michelle holds a Bachelor of Biomedical Engineering with Honours (Swinburne University of Technology, 2017), and is a member of our tinnitus research team.
Michelle is working to establish an objective measure of tinnitus by recording brain activity, alongside Dr Mehrnaz Shoushtarian.
With experience in design, implementation and data collection requirements of clinical trials, Michelle also provides engineering support for a number of our other research projects.
This includes the application of abdominal vagus nerve stimulation for Crohn’s disease and rheumatoid arthritis, and the application of non-invasive stimulation to the hands or feet to alleviate motor symptoms associated with Parkinson’s disease.
Michelle has been a mentor in the Bionics Institute Girls in STEM Mentoring Program, and delivered a number of presentations on our research to stakeholders.
Prior to joining the Bionics Institute, Michelle was a Project Coordinator at the Turner Institute for Brain and Mental Health (Monash University), where she oversaw a multi-day sleep study investigating the impact of sleep restriction and circadian disruption on several kinds of decision-making and other aspects of cognition.
